Tell US A Little About Yourself!
I rebuild old houses in chicago, when winter comes i just have to leave in my small van camper.
I am looking here for something with a cummins
5.9 diesel, possibly retrofit that motor into a novel older chassis
though that is just a dream with out the time to make it so.
Areas currently Rving, planning to RV, or have camped
My next trip and one of my favorites is the padre island national seashore., just south of corpus christi

There are several places to rv camp on Padre Island national seashore. The two i prefer are: first is the ocean side, parked
right on a 30 mile beach. I don't know how much of it is campable though i have heard at least 10 miles is suitable for
those with 2 wheel drive.
My second favorite is the bay side where the water is shallow,
the bay is wide and the winds strong and constant. It makes for
very good wind surfing. It cost a 10.00 entrance fee with unlimited stay up to 30 days. check internet for current details.

Welcome, Raymond. Sounds like you've got it figured out. Make some money in chicago and then spend winter in a wonderful area. Why suffer through those terrible winters when you can be on the beach with a beer? Post a photo of your camer van when you can. Would also really appreciate your posting in our Favorite Campgrounds forum and blogs about Padre Island. We're thinking about going there this winter, but don't really know where to go on the island or what campgrounds are good.
Anyway, Raymond welcome to our rv community. pat
