I just applied a coat of primer (Kilz water based product dried in 1/2 an hour) and top coated with Rustoleum Oil Based custom mixed color. It took 2/3 of a gallon to do my 16' trailer using a high density foam roller. The shine is great and after a…

Thanks for your response. The top of the trailer is whatever the original finish was. (From 1958) I probably could just use a rubbing compound and clean it up some. If it is the shiny, or dull, aluminum under there, do you think I could just wax it…

Hi Elizabeth. As above, paint tends to peel. Snow glop is worthless and can cause roof damage. The reason is because if it gets a little hole water seeps everywhere underneath. That sitting water causes roof rot. I wish they'd quit selling that stuf…

VK, I am new to the group and also was wanting to put something on the top of my camper trailer. It doesn't leak, has not roof vents or seams. I am interested in mostly a cosmetic solution. It is a 1958 Aristocrat LoLiner and a lot of people, taller…

Hello Gail, glad you got a camper. Is it a trailer? Pix? First of all, the "dreaded white goop" does not seal a roof and is not meant to. If you read the instructions, it won't work in standing water (many roofs have low places) and is for UV prote…

I am looking to paint my tin roof --- any ideas on a rubberized paint that might work? My camper is a project for sure - we're replacing rotten framing at this point so we won't be walking on the roof anytime soon. I'd like to get it sealed up to pr…

I have been using either semi-gloss or full gloss Rustoleum on the RV's I repair for 12 years now. Rustoleum wears well outside and the color matches up after a week to 10 days in the sun. Most modern RV's use either the Antique white or one of the…

Hey I am new to the site but thought I would comment on your post. I would recommend a good quality automotive grade paint. You will need prep the camper well because many times the aluminum will be become chalky. For ease of use, check out dupli-co…

My husband and I just bought an older RV and are wanting to repaint the exterior to liven it up a bit. The exterior is that aluminum paneling. I want to know what kind of paint is best resistant to the weather and conditions that the RV will be expe…

This is interesting...what is it about the Bounce fabric sheets that deters the rodent??? We just bought a small travel trailer that we are redoing and we have already found rat & mouse droppings (I'm sure from a while back, but still scary). Thanks…

We love the outdoors. Nick has many fond memories of camping with his family and that is what we want our children (that we will eventually have) to possess. We just bought a boat not that long ago and have now purchased a small Mobile Traveler. This completes our camping, fishing, and traveling dreams. We also have 5 acres in Southern Colorado that we would love to camp on.
Areas currently Rving, planning to RV, or have camped
We plan to hit most the lakes around our area and camp on our 5 acres in Colorado.

Welcome Nick and Lisa! Man, a boat in Texas AND 5 acres in paradise. Sounds like you've got a great plan there!! To search Texas classic campers just go to the RVs For Sale Tab at the top of the home page every once in awhile and then in SEARCH just enter Texas, or Class C or Travel Trailer and up will pop that general category.

I've noted HiLo travel trailers and classic Apache Trailers going for way low dollars lately. Check em out for fun by clicking their link under Vintage RV Links on the lower right hand side of the Good Old RVs home page. They're pretty interesting just to read and look at the pics. Anyway, welcome again and feel free to post your pictures, blogs or What's Up with YOU today in our Shoutbox anytime.
