Hi, Sara. I have had excellent luck with Camping World in Fort Worth and there is one located on the Katy Freeway in Houston. They stand behind their work and the work they did for me was great!
Hi Kaye, that is "bendy" plywood with a birch veneer...the edge framing is laminated plywood, glued and nailed to fit the curve. That corner wood is pry rotten as well. I have photos of what's there-too numerous to post on my page here. Email me if…
Paige, you are right. This trailer is a park model and does not have a holding tank. It does have a bathroom and probably had a shower at one time. As far as taking it camping, it can certainly go, we just will have to use the facilities at the camp…
My biggest questions is how to curve the wood to fit. Before I can tackle this, I need to understand how it was originally done. I am not sure if this is laminate over burchwood or if it is plywood or what. I am not going to tackle anything until I…
Yes, the linoleum harkens back to the '50's all right ... My grandparents' kitchen had that very same pattern. Also, the stove looks like it's in great condition.
Kaye, your trailer is STUNNING! I can't believe it sits on one set of axles. How long is it? I'm going to check out the other photos, too. Can't wait to see the inside!
I am a retired paralegal. I love to camp. I purchased a 1953 Lighthouse Travel trailer. It is in great shape but does need some restoration, ie. new inside ceiling, a place in the bedroom has waterdamage.
Kaye...I love your camper!! The wood work and detailing are beautiful! And the vintage appliances are awesome!! I cant wait to see your finished results.
Kenneth Harlow said… Hi Kaye,
This is a great site. Wow looks in pretty good shape for a 1953. I like the stove and fridg, they kinda keep the vintage look alive. You gotta post some more pics as your restoration project moves along. Good luck and just holler at us if you need anything.

Hello Kaye, We moved from Lancaster, Tx. not far from you in May of 06 back to Arkansas and we have a lot of campground and lakes to enjoy when you get your little trailer ready for the road come on up there is a lot to see and do here!!
Kaye, Have you become a member of the TIN CAN TOURISTS yet? I strongly urge you to do that. You will find a lot of support for your project and interest in your vintage trailer. What a rare find!
I wish you all the best! Hope we get to meet someday soon. Paige
Hi Kaye, I'm trying to send you a PM so we may share emails about repairs. Some are way too long to discuss in this manner. I have tons of repair photos. Think I have to be your friend to send a PM. More tonight, VK
Hello Kaye! Pat Daley suggested I write you. I have a '59 FAN Coach. Sounds like you may be in for a little work on your "new" trailer. If the water damage is very great, you will have to pull down the old ceiling, replace some of the wood under it and install another one. I have never done that myself. My trailer has some water damage under the front window but I am not touching it.
I would love to see photos of yours, though. I am an artist with a series devoted to the vintage canned hams. (www.VintageTravelTrailerArt.com) I had never heard of a Lighthouse travel trailer. So I am curious to see what one looks like. You can email me directly at: paigebridges@mikos.net.
Good luck! Paige
Hello Kaye, I'm always fixing something, usually a vintage trailer. I would be happy to help if you have any questions. Email is easier for me. Welcome to the group! VK
Welcome Kaye! Suggest that you view member VK's and Paige Bridges member information ... Just click "members" and click on them. Then perhaps send them a "friends" invite. They are way knowledgeable about vintage Trailer restorations and I think Paige is just down the road from you. See her Canned Ham art under our Aritists we meet on the Road on the lower left of our home page here. Sisters on the Fly links may give your some ideas too!
