Tell US A Little About Yourself!
I'm a freelance ghostwriter, designer and photographer. I write for Airstream Magazine and for Airstream's newsletter. So if you own an Airstream of know of someone who does let me know. I'm always looking for good story ideas!!

I write ebooks about just about anything for anyone who wants to write and sell a book but doesn't have the time, resources or expertise. I'm on my third book in a series about women and guns and guns and security - all of which are for sale or free on the United States Concealed Carry Association website. I used to be a police officer (academy grad and worked for about a year before giving it up to write), and I think that being aware of your surroundings, being smart and leaving your ego parked at the door and using your best manners and smarts will get you out of 80% more bad situations than a gun - but if you're going to have a gun, have it and use it wisely.

I'm a former journalist/photojournalist (22 years). I love defending the underdog and going after bad corporations - former investigative journalist!

I recently gave up my apartment and became a full-timer again. I'm alternating between full-timing and couch surfing with a friend who has recently had back surgery and needs a care giver for a few months.

I love to fish, love to camp and while a bad knee keeps me from backpacking, I still enjoy day hikes and biking. I have a rottweiler - almost ten years old now she mostly sleeps and eats (they only live to be about 10 or 12. So - that makes it hard to find a campground since most don't take certain breeds.

I write and produce ebooks. See my website at: http://beckyblanton.com.
Areas currently Rving, planning to RV, or have camped

RVer of the Year? Who will you choose?

My friend Marty Shenkman and his wife were recently selected as one of the top 5 finalists in the RVer of the year awards organized by Camping World. He joins four other very worthy finalists for the top honor. I'm posting to ask you to vote for Marty because he is doing something that affects ALL of us. He is a tax attorney whose wife Patti has MS. They bought an Airstream trailer and now travel around the country helping educate financial advisors about how to help their clients plan for healt… Continue

Flying J no longer offers free dumping

Just one more reason people need to really stop abusing dumping stations. RV'ers used to be able to dump their tanks for free at any Flying J Truck Stop. Due to the cost of cleaning out tanks and the misuse and abuse of the service they now charge for the privilege - $10 a pop. Please don't force other pro… Continue

If you love art and Airstreams, check this out

This young lady is an artist who paints pictures of Airstream trailers. These are realistic paintings, not photos! She is amazing!! She is graduating from college next month and going out into the big wide world. She is working on a series of t-shirts, greeting cards and other items - so if you are a bit Airstream fan, bookmark her page for more news! She sells her stuff on ebay...and I'm not sure where else right now...but she has some beautiful work. See… Continue

Internet site for finding campgrounds and boondocking sites

There are a lot of RV and camping sites out there and it can be hard to find the one that suits your needs after you figure out the basics. Here's a site I discovered today. It came from a boondocking group I belong to. What I love about it is they give topographical map information. Some of you might like that - particularly if you like to four-wheel or snowmobile or hike etc. They also include a lot of great links to other, little known but very useful sites. All the information on the site is… Continue

The Leisure Seeker, A new book about an RVing Couple

I love to read. And I do a lot of it - rarely reading a book more than once because there are so many new ones out there demanding my attention!! But I did get to preview "The Leisure Seeker," because I write for AirsContinue

I guess I can say I'm learning when it comes to this camper thing! Ugh! We are finished with the framing on the sides and placed the windows so we can figure out any extra framing etc. (I put up pic) I would have so much fun going to see trailers like that-Rob and I always talk about going to "green" seminars before we build our retirement abode! What a fun excuse to travel and learn. Ideas too!

I'll see if he's interested (My Uncle) I'll drop him an email tonight. I'm so intrigued with ebooks and the whole bit- I teach art to school age youth and have done murals for so long- all the local teachers are always wanting me to come in and help with projects. My two are college and High School! I have been playing with trying one out on lulu.com but maybe I need to look into your suggestions...

Becky- I'm reading your profile and I think of my Uncle Jim- who lives in Mosas Lake, WA. He travels the US and teaches instinctive shooting to Border Patrol and police groups. His name is Jim Gregg. He also has a hover craft he uses to take groups hunting and fishing. His biz is called C.O.P.S- combat oriented polices schools. My Mom grew up in Chehalis, WA and my Dad in Centralia. Anyway- she always did everything. Hunt, fish, built furniture, raised us, was a wonderful cook and could "fry it up in a pan" as they say. I miss her- she'd be right in on doing this camper with me. WE saw many big RVs this last weekend- my daughter did a Sand Soccer Tournament in Oceanside ,CA (1st place!) anyway- ours looked so small when we drove up the drive! Ha! I kind of like that though.

He had it for sale on Ebay but I actually found it on a vintage trailer site. Then called and bought it direct. The guy had talked the surfers who owned it (original-42 yrs) out of it but realized it was too much wood and fiberglass for him to re-do. Good for me because I don't think I'll get rid of this one once we finish! I have to stay true though and make it a "surf van" in blues and wood and chrome. We even want to "hang" a wooden surfboard down the side that will flip down as an outside bar....

Becky, the mural on my trailer is reminiscent of the wonderful artist Linda Carter Holman. Knew I wanted a mural (lots of dings to disguise) and had a print of hers hanging in my living room, so she was the inspiration. Would love to lie and say that I did the painting but I cannot! A local artist/sign painter took home the print and the trailer and, voila!

Becky, bet Virginia is very lovely this time of year. Sooo glad Koko has a freind to play with. Lady's friend, sugar from down the street, comes by every morning for a romp every morning... which usually entails playing chase with their toy over me while I'm waking up. They're a joy to see having so much fun! HAve a wonderful week! pat, linda & lady dog

Yes, Lady dog is very knowledgeable about wrenchs and such. She tells me what sizes to use and what to fix next.

Lady says "hi Koko"!

Becky, Lady dog want to know your dogs name and how VanDone is doing.
Lady also mentioned to me that she thought you should get a vintage Shasta trailer or the like and tow it behind you van. Lady thinks that this might give you the best of all worlds; a "base camp" in the trailer and the VanDone for mobility.

Here is Lady telling me how to take the engine apart... again!
